Welcome to the Atlanta Hoarding Task Force

The Atlanta Hoarding Task Force is a membership organization that acts as a coordinated response team for hoarders and their families. Compulsive hoarding is a complex and devastating disorder. It is estimated that 2%-4% of the adult population suffers from hoarding. Hoarding behaviors such as excessive saving, excessive acquisition and purchase, and failure to discard can begin early, although the average age of a person seeking treatment is 50. Hoarders often struggle for decades with hoarding issues and many report a second family member with the problem.

In combination, these services are the best way for a person who hoards to change their life and sustain change over time. Our services are fee-based. Our Organization

The Atlanta Hoarding Task Force (AHTF) was formed June 20, 2009 and is in the process of obtaining a tax-exempt status. Our membership includes professional organizers, therapists, and providers of supplemental services such as biohazard services. Our broader referral network includes social workers, senior care providers, and other professionals.

Our Mission

To make resources and services available to metro-Atlanta compulsive hoarders and their families, and to educate those who encounter people who are hoarders.

Our Goal

The AHTF seeks to mitigate hoarding issues before they become dire safety or health issues, and before the hoarding issues devastate the family. If you are a chronically disorganized person with hoarding tendencies, or an individual with hoarding issues at any stage, we welcome your call or email. We also welcome referrals from therapists, family members, professional organizers, the courts and legal entities, and public and private agencies.
